Overnight oats are a delicious and creamy breakfast option that require no cooking and only a handful of ingredients. They have a lovely, indulgent texture that's reminiscent of pudding which makes them the perfect way to start your day on a sweet note!

Overnight oats have been around for many years, despite their recent surge in popularity. During the 1960s-1970s, a Swiss physician named Bircher-Benner developed a recipe for overnight oats which came to be known as “Bircher muesli,” which is a mixture of overnight oats, grated apple, and nuts, among other ingredients. The recipe became popular in Europe and is still a common breakfast dish today in the form of a muesli mix.

The idea behind overnight oats is to soak rolled oats in milk or yoghurt overnight, which softens the oats and makes them easier to digest. Over the years overnight oats have become a trend which has been further popularised by social media and food bloggers, who have created many variations of the basic recipe using different ingredients such as fruit, nuts, and spreads.

Today, the delicious breakfast is enjoyed all over the world with countless recipes available for different variants. The simplicity of overnight oats allows you to experiment and have fun with different flavour combinations, making it a perfect meal for any day of the week.
