Stir-fry soy beef steak is a dish that combines soy sauce-marinated beef with stir-fried vegetables – typically served with rice or noodles. The dish has its roots in Chinese cuisine, whereby stir-frying is a common cooking technique.
The origins of stir-fry can be traced back as early as the Han Dynasty (206 BC to 220 AD). The stir-fry cooking technique involves quickly cooking small pieces of meat and vegetables over high heat in a wok or similar pan and it is also an effective way for batch cooking. The recipe for stir-fry soy beef steak evolved over time as different ingredients became available and as cooks experimented with different flavour combinations.
Beef meat can be considered as a recent addition to Chinese cuisine, as traditionally, beef was not widely consumed in China due to religious and cultural beliefs. However, in recent times, stir-fry soy beef steak has become a staple in many Chinese restaurant menus and is a favourite among those who enjoy the bold and savoury flavours of Chinese cuisine.

When I’m pressed for time or in the mood to cook something quick but craving something incredibly flavorful and satisfying – this stir-fry soy beef steak recipe comes to my rescue. Lets get buzzin’:
- Onion Spring (Scallions)
- Chuck Steak
- Garlic Powder
- Cayenne Powder
- Black Pepper Powder
- Light Soy Sauce
- Oyster Sauce
- White Rice Vinegar
- Dark Soy Sauce
- Honey
- Brown Onions
- Carrot
- Sesame Oil
Begin by cutting the roots of the buds of the onion springs. Then, cut the spring onions into 2-inch sections and set them aside. Peel the onions and slice them thinly and set them aside. Cut the carrot into 45-degree diagonal slices or into matchsticks, depending on your preference and set aside. Personally, I prefer cutting the carrots diagonally for extra crunch.
Next, cut the chuck steak into thin slices and add them to a large bowl.
Add the cut spring onions, garlic powder, cayenne powder, black pepper powder, light soy sauce, oyster sauce, white rice vinegar, dark soy sauce, and honey to the same bowl. Mix everything well until the beef is coated with the marinade. Set it aside to marinate for 10 minutes.
In a pan, heat 4 tablespoons of oil. Once the oil is hot, add the sliced onions and sauté them until they become translucent.
Then, add the marinade beef mixture and stir-fry it for about 8-10 minutes on medium-high heat until the beef becomes tender. During this time, you may notice some juice from the beef, which is normal.
Once the beef is tender, add the carrots and sesame oil to the pan. Stir-fry everything together for 1-2 minutes.
Remove the pan from heat and serve with white rice with a sunny side up or serve with noodles.
Enjoy!
