The exact origin of garlic bread is unknown with theories of origins for garlic bread pointing towards Tuscany or Rome (regions in Italy) or even Egypt. However, it is widely believed to have originated in Italy – where it is a popular antipasto (appetiser) in the form of bruschetta. Garlic bread likely evolved from the traditional Italian bruschetta, which is made by toasting bread and topping it with garlic, olive oil, tomato, basil, or cheese.

In the United States, garlic bread became popular in the 1940s and 1950s as Italian-American cuisine grew in popularity. The dish was often served as appetisers in Italian-American restaurants, and it quickly became a staple of American cuisine.

Today, garlic bread is enjoyed all over the world and can be found in many variations, such as with or without cheese, using different types of bread, and with additional herbs and spices.

Garlic bread is traditionally toasted in a conventional oven – but with this recipe, you can easily prepare delicious air fryer cilantro garlic bread. This recipe is a great option for people who don’t have access to an oven or simply want a hassle-free and quick way to enjoy garlic bread without the need to turn on their oven.

STEPS ON AIR FRYER CILANTRO GARLIC BREAD

This air fryer cilantro garlic bread recipe is my ultimate go-to when I’m craving for a good no fuss garlic bread. The golden brown toasty exterior and the soft, fluffy interior makes it truly irresistible. Infused with fresh cilantro, the delicious cilantro garlic butter elevates it to a scrumptious homemade delight – ready to be eaten in a matter of minutes!

Lets get buzzin’:

  • Mini Baguettes (or preferred choice of bread)
  • Cilantro
  • Garlic
  • Unsalted Butter
  • Salt

To prepare the cilantro garlic bread, start by slicing your mini baguettes horizontally into equal halves. If another type of bread is used, cut it into slices or make slits along the bread. Set aside.Mini baguette on a cutting board Equally halved mini baguette on a cutting board

Next, on a cutting board, chop the cilantro finely. You can achieve this by folding the cilantro into a tight bundle like a cigar, and finely chopping it with a sharp knife. Run the knife over the herbs by chopping it further for 1-2 times.Finely chopped cilantro on a cutting bord

In a mixing bowl, combine the finely chopped cilantro, minced garlic (use a garlic press or chop it finely), unsalted butter, and salt. If salted butter is used, omit the salt. Additionally, if you don’t have cilantro or prefer not to use it, you can omit it altogether and substitute it with other herbs such as parsley, oregano or basil (dried or fresh). You can make a classic garlic bread by using only garlic. The steps of the recipe remain the same regardless. Mix everything together with a spoon until well incorporated and has a spreadable consistency.Cilantro garlic butter mix (before mixing) in a yellow bowlCilantro garlic butter mix (after mixing) in a yellow bowl

Generously spread the cilantro garlic butter mix on each half of the mini baguettes or on your preferred bread slices. If you made slits on your bread, fill them with the cilantro garlic butter mix.Spreading cilantro garlic butter mix on halved mini baguette on a cutting board

Place the baguettes in the air fryer at 160°C for 5 minutes or until the edges of the bread are golden brown. Note that air fryers heat varies depending on the model and brand, so you may need to adjust the time and temperature accordingly.
