Creamy and smooth, this drink blends rich coconut cream with sweet tropical mango and pineapple, all tied together by Rosé for a refreshing yet indulgent treat.

The Piña Colada, a beloved tropical cocktail known for its creamy blend of pineapple, coconut, and rum, has a somewhat debated history with multiple claims of origin. It is generally accepted that the drink was popularised in Puerto Rico. One theory claims that Don Ramon Portas Mingot, a bartender in Puerto Rico, created the Piña Colada in the 1960s at the Caribe Hilton’s Beachcomber Bar. Another claim comes from the Caribe Hilton itself, where bartender Ramon “Monchito” Marrero allegedly developed the Piña Colada in 1954 while trying to create a unique drink that represented Puerto Rico. In 1978, Puerto Rico officially declared the Piña Colada its national drink. The cocktail gained global popularity through films, television, and pop culture, becoming a symbol of tropical relaxation and paradise.

The Piña Colada has become so iconic that even if you don’t drink, you know what it is. A truly popular drink that earned its status as a national drink is definitely a fitting end to my mini Summery Rosé Blends series. This Rosé Mango Piña Colada combines the tropical flavours of mango, pineapple, and creamy coconut with alcohol-free Rosé. It’s the perfect choice for you if you are seeking a less boozy yet indulgent version of the classic Piña Colada. Head to the recipe now and treat yourself—you won’t be disappointed! TIPS & TRICKS / SUBSTITUTIONS

SUBSTITUTIONS

Alcohol

For this recipe and all of the previous recipes in the Summer Rosé Blends series, alcohol-free rosé wine will be used. Although it still contains 0.05% alcohol, where I live, any drink with alcohol below or at the 0.05% threshold is considered and sold as alcohol-free. Hence, this drink is not suitable for children, anyone below the legal drinking age, or anyone who strictly does not consume alcohol. On the other hand, if you prefer to use rosé (alcohol) wine, you can do that as well.

STEPS ON MAKING ROSÉ MANGO PIÑA COLADA

Ingredients for Rosé Mango Piña Colada on a working surface

In a smoothie blender or a regular blender (be sure it can handle frozen fruits, ice, or alcoholic drinks), add the Rosé, coconut cream, sweetened condensed milk, frozen pineapple, and frozen mango.

Blend until smooth and well combined. Pour evenly into two wine glasses or any glasses you prefer.

For an optional garnish, place one pitted cherry on top of each drink. Since the drink is quite dense, the cherry will not sink to the bottom. Enjoy!
